If your family is like mine, then Tex-Mex is a mealtime go-to. Whether we’re visiting one of our favorite spots (El Chaparro. I literally have their number saved in my phone. Complete with picture.) or dining in, you can be sure that this is a food group we are hitting at least once a week. It’s something that can be eaten at anytime of day, and we have been known to start the day with a breakfast burrito and end it with a quesadilla. I wasn’t kidding when I said it was a mealtime go-to!

Any seasoned Tex-Mex veteran knows that no meal is complete without guacamole. It’s good on everything from eggs to chicken fajitas. If we are being honest, I think we could agree that guacamole could be it’s own food group. You don’t even need Tex-Mex to go with it. Grab your favorite chip or chopped veggie and it’s a great addition to any gathering you attend. So, whether you’re looking for a side for your Tex-Mex feast or something to bring to your friends house, everyone needs an easy and delicious guac that they can throw together.

A good guacamole doesn’t have to be time consuming or intimidating. This recipe only requires cutting/chopping avocados and tomatoes. The remaining ingredients are spices that you most likely already have on hand. Making guacamole is also a great way to get the kiddos in the kitchen with you. Little hands are great at measuring and pouring in the spices, mixing it all together, and, of course, giving it a taste test! For a little extra fun, tell your Alexa (or preferred music device) to play Latino music while you’re in the kitchen. {Side note: Playing themed music while we cook is something we love to do. It started when my husband began making homemade pizza dough. He would turn on Italian music and pour us some wine! It creates an atmosphere of fun.}

This is the guacamole I have made for years, and it has always been a hit at gatherings. My secret ingredient, Chili Powder! I’ve always been a sprinkle of this and dash of that kind of cook. With the help of my momma, I turned my guac into an actual recipe. Thank you mom for adding up my fractions as I kept adding my sprinkle of this and dash of that until it was just right.

If you make my recipe, leave me a comment! I’d love to hear that ya did!

“if you have nothing but love for your avocados, and you take joy in turning them into guacamole, all you need is someone to share it with.”
