Christmas In July
I think we can all agree that, so far, 2020 has been heavy. I am in serious need of time to recharge, as well as to add some joy back into life. What better way to do this then to add some CHRISTMAS in July?! After all, Christmas is the most wonderful and joyful time of the year.
Let’s take it one step further and add in some happy mail! I cannot be the only one that still gets excited to receive a letter in the mail. Call me old fashioned (especially with all the Evites these days), but I also prefer to send out actual invitations that someone can open, hold as they read, and put up on their fridge. It’s happy mail! It’s something that someone took the time to send just to you.
Now that I have your attention, you are probably wondering, “How do we do this? And do I have to buy presents?” No. No presents needed (unless of course you really want to). Christmas in July is all about adding in those joyful Christmas feelings in a much needed time. Here are some ways you can do that:
Send a Christmas in July Card out to family and friends. It is sure to add a smile to their faces as they see how your family has grown and what everyone is up to. This is a great way to have a point of connection during this socially distant time during the coronavirus.
Invite your friends and/or family over for a cookie exchange! You could decorate Christmas cookies with summer flare by making a Christmas tree pool float, a patriotic Christmas tree, a Christmas inspired pool towel, etc. The possibilities are endless and fun is sure to be had by all! (If baking isn’t your strong suit, theres always the trusty slice and bake to let you join in on the festivities.) You can add to the fun by sending out an invitation via snail mail (aka happy mail)! You can even use a holiday party invitation template to customize your summer holiday cookie exchange invites.
Host a Christmas in July Soiree where people come wearing something that makes them feel Merry and bright. You can supply simple and easy hors d'oeuvres or make it a pot luck. The idea is to get people together and add some joy back in.
* Y’all, the customization is so user friendly. I went in and selected my favorite cards and customized them how I wanted. You are able to easily move design templates around as well as change colors throughout. *
Maybe you have your own idea as to how to host a Christmas in July but need a starting point. Basic Invite has you covered! They are a company that I recently learned about that has beautiful and quality invitations and stationary. You might even find inspiration for a party to host. (I wish I could say that a Christmas in July cookie exchange was my idea, but I can’t. While browsing through their holiday card selection, I came across a darling invitation for a cookie exchange and thought it would be such a fun thing to do this summer!)
Other than amazing quality, Basic Invite also has almost unlimited color options to choose from. Once you’ve chosen your selected design, you are able to customize the color of each element on the card. With over 180 colors to choose from, you can make sure that your card (or stationary) is exactly how you want it.
A detail I love, is that Basic Invite allows you to order a CUSTOM sample before you place your final order. My husband will tell you that I have an eye for detail, so getting to see my product before I make a purchase is important to me. Fun fact: Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows you to do this.
On top of everything else, they have so many choices to choose from. From the over 180 color options, to over 40 envelope colors to choose from, to address capturing services, as well as foil options. There are so many great choices that you have with this company! Right now, they have a discount code for 15% site wide.
Use code: 15FF51
For the busy mom (or anyone with a hectic schedule), Basic Invite makes it easier than ever to send out actual invitations. All of Basic Invite’s envelopes are peel and seal so that the envelopes can be closed quickly and securely. You also have the option to share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media outlet to request your friends and family’s addresses. These addresses are then able to be added to your envelopes at no additional cost! (Hold the phone! And BRB - ordering me some things!)
I hope you feel inspired to host a Christmas in July. It doesn’t have to be anything big. Remember, it’s just about adding some joy back into the heaviness. If you decide to add a little Christmas in to your summer, tag me @bwynne (Instagram) because I’d love to see some joy spreading!
